Up and coming French singer Barbara Weldens has died after collapsing in the middle of a concert, it has been reported.
The cause of her death is currently unclear but local media reports she may have been electrocuted.
Weldens, 35, was on stage at a church in the small village of Goudron, in the Lot region of south-west France, when she reportedly suffered a reported cardiac arrest.
Her first album was released this year and she had recently won a young talent award.
Police are investigating the cause of her death. A spokesperson told L’Europe1 that they “will see in the next weeks if a re-evaluation” is necessary, and that they would assess the possible cause behind an electrical malfunction.
Weldens was performing as part of the Léo Ferré festival. In 2016 she one first prize in the Jacques Brel Young Talent competition.
Her debut studio album Le Grand H de l’Homme was released on 3 February this year to positive reviews.
