Chelsea Clinton completely shut down Donald Trump on Twitter with a scathing response when he claimed that the media would have treated her differently than Ivanka, who was criticised for temporarily taking her father’s seat during a meeting at the G20 summit on Saturday (8 July).
A photo of Ivanka Trump sitting in her father’s seat at a session titled “Partnership with Africa, Migration and Health” sparked outrage, with critics arguing that the first daughter is both “unqualified” and “unelected” to take the president’s place alongside British Prime Minister Theresa May and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
Facing a barrage of criticism over Ivanka’s role during the summit, the US president fired off a series of tweets in which he argued that Merkel “agreed” with his decision to ask his daughter to step in and that the media would have been much more lenient towards Chelsea Clinton if she had taken over her mother’s seat.

In his first tweet, Trump commented: “When I left Conference Room for short meetings with Japan and other countries, I asked Ivanka to hold seat. Very standard. Angela M agrees!”
He went on to deflect the criticism directed at Ivanka by attacking Chelsea Clinton, her mother, and the media.
“If Chelsea Clinton were asked to hold the seat for her mother,as her mother gave our country away, the Fake News would say CHELSEA FOR PRES!” he declared.
Clinton was quick to fire back with the blistering words: “Good morning Mr. President. It would never have occurred to my mother or my father to ask me. Were you giving our country away? Hoping not.”
