The Supreme Court will tomorrow (Wednesday) decide the lawful chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) between Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi.
Hearing notice has been sent to counsel in the appeal brought by Makarfi, challenging the decision of the Court of Appeal, Port-Harcourt Division, declaring Sheriff the authentic chairman of the troubled party.
Sheriff and Makarfi, both former governors and senators, have been laying claims to the position.
While Sheriff is claiming a mandate to complete the tenure of former chairman, erstwhile Bauchi State Governor Adamu Muazu, Makarfi is holding on to the acting chairman mandate given him by the party National Executive Committee (NEC) at its botched convention in Port-Harcourt.
The party has been split in the middle from national toward level, resulting in what is now known as Sheriff and Makarfi factions.
